As you may know or may not know we at Ethan’s “Playground” have added a ceramic section to our centre named Edmin’s”Clayground”. I have had many requests to open it up to the public for families to come paint, so I decided to do just that! I figure why just go to a place where you can only paint, when you can come to us and paint & play! Come make a handprint memory plate for grandma or a mug for Daddy, tons of great Holiday gift ideas!
I am also a crew member to Noah’s Ark animal workshop and will have a variety of animals available for a Stuff N Fluff workshop.

Description of classes

Belly & Body Sculpt (January 12-March 2) 10-11 8 weeks $120
Emphasis is on muscle toning and strengthening of the entire body using different equipment and some Pilates inspired techniques that target the core of our bodies. We will do some cardiovascular activity to warm up followed by strength and resistance training using mostly the ball and their choice of heavy to light weight according to their fitness level. Suitable for moms who are at least 6 weeks post partum, and who want to loose weight and get back in shape while we watch your baby!

Mom & Baby Yoga (January 12-March 2) 11:30-12:30 $120
Yoga is a relaxing & gentle, yet fun class for Mom’s, babies (0-crawling) combining simple Yoga postures, meditation, breathing, massage & reflexology techniques. Mom and Baby yoga is also a great way to make new friends and socialize with other Moms and their babies. Our goal is to relax and have fun!

Pilates Belly (January 12-March 2) 2-3pm $120
This class will provide you with core conditioning and Pilates-based exercises designed to get your “core” (primarily the abdominal and lower back areas) back into shape. Strengthen tone and stretch out those tense muscles that are doing overtime as a busy new parent. This class is suited to moms from six weeks postpartum onward. Modifications will be done to suit your personal fitness level and day-to-day needs and activities. The program is informed by the “Alexander Technique”, and offers valuable and easy-to-apply fundamental principles with which you will re-discover a more easeful and relaxed posture. 7—We are raising money to help purchase a new 10 million dollar Magnetic Resonance Imaging apparatus for the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
This machine is a highly specialized surgical imaging system that will provide surgeons with images of their patients during surgery. As a result, the trauma from undergoing multiple surgical interventions will dramatically decrease and the success rate of various types of surgeries will increase.

Frank Cavallaro and Natasha Gargiulo will be hosting the event and recording artist Jacynthe will be performing. Taking part in this exciting afternoon will be sports celebrities, such as members of the Montreal Impact.
In addition to magicians and princesses, the children will also be entertained by the wacky experiments of Mad Science and the reptiles of Science Frontier.

Kids for Kids, a group of young Montrealers dedicated to fundraising for local children’s causes, is kicking off its 2008 campaign.

Generally, Kids for Kids chooses a new recipient every year, after interviewing several charities. However, this year we have selected Centre de répit Philou for the second year in a row. This stems from our belief that this grassroots organization is as close to our mission statement as can be; that this is a key moment in its development, when additional funds will make a true difference; and as we feel strongly that we must do even more to support its excellent work in the community.

Diane Chênevert founded Centre Philou three years ago, after she and her family faced the stark realities of supporting a severely physically disabled child, with minimal assistance from government or health care agencies. They faced exhaustion, sleep deprivation and lack of time for themselves and each other. Centre Philou offers 24-hour a day, year-round respite for parents of severely physically disabled children, for just a night or up to three weeks. It is the only organization of its kind to accept children with feeding tubes, respiratory tubes, epilepsy and chronic sleeping disorders. It receives patients referred by the Montreal Children’s Hospital, CHU Sainte-Justine and readaptation centres.

Having completed its third year of operations, Centre Philou has established itself as a vital support service. In 2007, the organization offered 1,800 respites to 75 families in Montréal and throughout the province.

Centre Philou does not charge a standard fee for their services, rather it accepts a symbolic donation from parents who can afford it, and does not turn away any families for inability to pay. Centre Philou’s funding is entirely private and comes from family and children’s foundations, corporations and individuals, and fundraising activities.

We would like to invite you or your company to sponsor the Kids for Kids campaign and make a tax-deductible pledge to Centre Philou. The funds raised will be used to further finance the program for children aged 6-12, for a goal of $100,000. To that end, Kids for Kids is also organizing a charity event to be held Friday, November 28, 2008, at the Marché Bonsecours in the Old Port.

Kids for Kids is putting its full support behind Centre Philou for the second year in a row and we hope that you will see, as we do, the vital role that this organization has in serving Montréal and Québec families.

6—The Magic Lanterns« A Thousand and One Stars »
From September 5 to November 2, the Chinese Garden of the Montréal Botanical Garden will be transformed into a light-filled show during the 16th edition of the Magic of Lanterns event.
With this year’s theme of A Thousand and One Stars, there will be over 1 000 traditional lanterns and dozens of enormous figures representing popular Chinese performance arts (juggling, acrobatics, opera, music and more) to amaze and delight visitors of all ages. Visitors will also be able to admire two shimmering curtains of water and light and a moving sphere containing lions playing with balls.
The Botanical Garden will remain open until 9 p.m. daily from September 5 to November 2, 2008 for the occasion.

Emphasis is on muscle toning and strengthening of the entire body using different equipment and some Pilates inspired techniques that target the core of our bodies. 10—Some of you have been asking where you can get the book “Messy Faces” by Elizabeth Caunter The book, which sells for $10.95, is to be available this month at Chapters Pointe Claire, 6321 TransCanada Highway at St. Jean Blvd. Messy Face will also be sold at the Belles Mamans centre for mothers and babies, 173C Cartier St. in Pointe Claire, 514-783-3200. The centre offers childbirth classes and parenting programs. Caunter launched the book, which will also be sold on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca, at Belles Mamans in July. This book is adorable but the best part is Elizabeth is donating a percentage of her profits to Project Cuddle, a charity that reaches out to troubled pregnant women.

7–Studio Zone Pottery:
Saturday evenings, from 6 to 9pm, we will having a Kids Night Out which allows parents to drop off their 6 to13 yr olds at our Studio while they go out for the evening. We will be painting pottery, playing games, making craft projects, offering snacks, pizza, and beverages. (The cost will be $34 per child which includes a pottery project that is valued at $15.00, a craft project, along with dinner, snacks, and beverages.) Reservations are required for this event. We are also starting a new Ladies Night Out offering a relaxing and fun evening with friends and family painting ceramics on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 pm. We are offering complimentary snacks, 50% off studio fees, and complimentary beverages to all ladies. Reservations for groups of 6 or more are suggested. Teen Sundays will begin next week-end. Teen painters, ages 13 to 17, will receive free snacks, a beverage, and free studio time all day long to paint to their hearts’ desire on Sundays from 11am to 6:30pm. Thank you again.
