We recently moved to Montreal from NY without knowing the city resources for shopping, baby classes, and baby friendly restaurants and cafes. As soon as we arrived, a girl in the local Westmount Y recommended that my daughter Isabella and I attend a popular class called “Music in the Park”. We arrived a little hesitant as we did not have friends yet in Montreal . Andrea gave us a warm welcome, introducing us to the other mothers, and her daughter Sophia immediately welcomed Isabella with a big friendly smile. Through these classes and playgroups, I have learned about fun and interesting places to go in Montreal . For my daughter Isabella, her life has been enriched with so many fun events and learning resources in a very positive environment. For myself, I have found wonderful new friends in Montreal! My husband also was surprised and happy to see how advanced Isabella was developing through these social events and learning. She was singing along, dancing, and smiling all the time! He was so happy that he even came to a couple of them just to share and enjoy that very special time with our daughter. Right now he’s very excited, as we are starting our first Pops and Tots class! When our daughter was sick, we needed a recommendation for pediatrician. And of course we received phone calls and emails from nearly a dozen mothers (Andrea gave us the biggest support) recommending their doctors. This sense of community support helped us feel secure and loved in a foreign country. The Montreal Mommies group shares almost daily upcoming events and reminders of organized classes (from Mommy playgroups to all city resources like daycare centers, preschools), baby stores, baby friendly restaurants and cafes, recommended doctors, seminars, and more. It also gives mothers an opportunity to talk, share our concerns about how to best raise our children, and most of all laugh and enjoy ourselves through fun playgroups and classes. I can’t imagine living in Montreal without being part of this wonderful group!” Gabby Mazzilli and Isabella |
The Montreal Mummies List is amazing! It has introduced me to all sorts of businesses around Montreal catering to Moms and Babies. Being a new mom myself, I wasn”t familiar with what kinds of things were out there " now I’ve enrolled my baby in yoga classes, discovered Enfants du Quartier and shopped at Memory Lane . Every time I get an email, I know there will be another interesting and innovative class to look into, group to join or store to visit. Thanks Andrea for doing this, it is truly a wonderful resource! The “Montreal mummies list” has been very helpful to network with other moms and their kids and share some useful information regarding events, shopping (clothes, toys, food for kids, etc). In addition to that it is a fun, friendly group of mums! Irma Alvarez |
Hi, I’m Joanna Spira, Mum of Oliver, 21 months (and soon to Mum of another in February). Being relatively new to Montreal (we are from Australia), the Montreal Mummies list has been a godsend to me in keeping me informed of what’s going on for kids and families in Montreal, as well as where I can purchase important kids equipment and family stuff. Thanks very much! Jo Spira mom of Oliver 21 months |
